The European Commission is focusing on changes in EU research and innovation funding in order to create more growth and jobs

On the 9th February 2011 the European Commission sent up a consultation on major improvements to EU research and innovation funding in order to facilitate the participation and to increase scientific and economic impact and value for money. In this sense the propounded “Common Strategic Framework” has been formulated in a Green Paper and would cover the current Framework Programme for Research (FP7); the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme (CIP) and the European Institute of Innovation and Technologies (EIT).
The goal is to establish a set of consistent instruments which can be used along the whole “innovation chain” from the basic research to the production of innovative products and services which take into account also non-technological innovation like design and marketing.
Another task of the Green Paper is to make available the basis for a wide simplification of procedures and rules.
This kind of changes are oriented to maximise the contribution of EU research and innovation to the Innovation Union and Europe 2020 Strategy.
The interested Stakeholders have to respond until 20 May 2011.
