On 27 March 2011 Vytautas Valiusis Pottery Museum invited visitors to explore a world of clay art and presented renewed exposition halls. Altogether in five halls Lithuanian pottery traditions are presented.
In the first hall visitors will learn about the history of ceramics and will see how masters were working in old times and what instruments they used. Educational film on creation of the clay works gives an insight of 700 years history.
In the second hall it is shown how ceramic works were used. There you will see a collection of cups, plates, jugs, special pots keep oil. Even in hundred years ago, people wanted to live in a beautiful environment, so candle holders are decorated with different ornaments.
Differences between ceramic works in ethnographic Lithuanian regions can be seen in the third exhibition hall. Forms, decorations vary from the specifics of the region.
Two more halls are devoted to the Lithuanian king of potts – Vytautas Valiušis - and his works. During his life
Museum director Lilija Jovarienė is happy that this spring 10 years celebrating museum is reconstructed. She admits that without ERDF co-financing it would not be possible to do it. V.Valiusis Pottery Museum is one of the top tourism attractions in Utena Region.
