The Promotion and Local Development Area Deputy, Juan Roselló, was very pleased with the welcome given to the talks, not only due to the quantity and quality of thel isteners, where moret han 60 people attended anda mong them many olive oil mills managersfrom the province of Alicante as Gutierrez de la Vegaf rom Parcent, Señorios de Relleu, from the Agricultural Cooperative Virgen de la Cueva Santa Beniarrés and the Agricultural Cooperative Progress of Parcent, etc., but also due to the interest showed by many municipalities from Alicante. The mayors of the municipalities of Beniarrésand Parcent, Máximo Revilla and Luis Tomás, were excellent hosts, and the mayors from Gaianesand Tárbena expressed their interestinhosting in their municipalities such an event and, therefore, the explanation of the conclusions that, with no doubt, will be beneficial totheir olive oilmillswhen being implemented.
The conclusions of these talks are the result of a European LIFE Project called Oleico+, which has a total budget of 1,003,636 Euros and where apart from the County Council of Alicanteparticipate 29 municipalities from Alicante (Agres, Alcalalí, Alfafara, Beneixama, Beniardá, Beniarrés, Benifallim, Benifato, Benigembla, Benilloba, Benillup, Benimarfull, Campo de Mirra, Cañada, Castalla, Castell de Castells, Gaianes, Gorga, La Torre de les Maçanes, La Vall de Gallinera, La Vall d´Alcalà, La Vall d´Ebo, Lorcha, Orba, Parcent, Ràfol d´Almúnia, Relleu, Tárbena y Villena) in AEMO (Spanish Association of Olive Municipalities) and led by the Italian institute of investigation ISRIM and executed by the rest of European partners of Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece (AEMO, ISRIM, LNEG y TU-Crete). The Project has diagnosed the best European technologies according to their economical, environmental and technological viability for the eradication and appreciation of waste and byproducts from the olive oil mills.
The speaker, JoséMariaPencoValenzuela, Agronomist of the Spanish AssociationofOlive Municipalities(AEMO) andrepresentativeof the European LIFE projectOleico+, acknowledgedthat theselectionofthe11prototype technologiesthat areintegratedin the8different technological foundationsanddisplayedin the technicaltalks,have beenfoundafterdiagnosing 147different technologicalfoundations, compiled bythe fourprojectpartnersintheir countries,after preselecting 34foundationsand carrying out aqualitative assessmentaccording to objective criteria. Mr.PencostatedAEMOwill send tothe companies from the partner municipalities, brochures explaining thetechnologyas well asDVDswith picturesandvideosof them.
The Deputy, Juan Roselló, highlighted the efforts ofthe County Council ofAlicanteinfavor oftheolive sector from Alicante, not onlyat a provincial level, withwell-known projectssuch asOlisd'Alacant, theOlive Resource CenterofAlicante, the European project INNOVATE MED, studiesandpublicationsor theorganizationof coursesandlectures,butalsoat a national level,where he is an activemember oftheboardofAEMO. Mr. Roselló, acknowledged as well, the goodwork oftheolive oil millsfrom Alicante, wherea extraordinary quality oil awarded world wide is produced and will be able to turn waste into a resourceand, threfore, will bring a very interesting economic benefit tothe olive oilmills from Alicante, putting into practice some of the techniques discussed in these technical talks.
