Ski-orienteering weekend in Aluksne

Almost 400 orienteering fans from Estonia and Latvia came together in Alūksne (Latvia) on 22-23 January to participate in the winter competition organized by the project Est-O-Lat League.

While the weather recently played some tricks in both countries, soft and fresh snow had managed to cover the land again just before the big event, and the skiing conditions in Alūksne were excellent as always. It was even possible to arrange the track across the lake.

The athletes of all ages gathered around the People’s House of Alūksne on Saturday morning, in order to spend two active days on skis and follow the different tracks arranged by the organizers. Parts of the route included some of the nicest cultural heritage and sightseeing places of Alūksne. To have an insight, take a look at the picture gallery.

This two-day ski-orienteering weekend in Alūksne was one of the series of events organized within the Est-O-Lat League project. The next event on skis will take place on 12-13 February in Holstre-Polli in Estonia, while the spring and summer season will continue with bike-, trail- and classical orienteering competitions.
