Autoclusters: The charging stations for electric cars in Bulgaria

bg_stationIn a few months the participating companies in Electric vehicle industrial cluster (EVIC) will have a prototype of a Bulgarian Charging station for electric automobiles. The small charging station would be installed on car parking lots and other public places. An intelligent Bulgarian system will be incorporated in the charging station - " Smart Grid".
The system enables monitoring and control of the so-called "green energy" from the producer to the electric vehicles. The system is in the process of development by members of EVIC and affiliates of BAS and CEZ Bulgaria. The charging stations developed in Bulgaria, will be supplied with alternating current from the mains or from alternative sources of energy (green technologies).
The cost of the network with charging stations depends on the method of charging. The price-determining factor is the charging time - the faster the charging the higher the cost. The necessary investment for a construction of small charging stations around 25000 EUR. At these stations the electric vehicles can be recharged for 15-30 minutes. Usually, a normal battery is able to provide power for around 150 km before it has to be recharged. The estimated cost per kilometer is less than 2 cents at the current price of electric energy.
This is not the only example of companies in Bulgaria, directing their efforts in this field. Last autumn the international company FullCharger, headquartered in Paris, and its Bulgarian division introduced the first network ChargePoint in Bulgaria with three charging stations for electric vehicles. The company had already built a similar network in Turkey and is planning to develop a similar charging infrastructure in Romania, Greece, Ukraine, Cyprus and Russia. FULLCHARGER International works in close partnership with "365 / Coulomb Technologies" - a leading manufacturer of charging stations. They both develop a cutting-edge network software, named to be the most advanced technology of its kind in the world, monitoring over 1200 charging stations ChargePoint, installed in 117 cities in 23 countries worldwide. The price of a single ChargePoint is about 4500 euros excluding VAT. A full battery charge costs to the final consumer between 12 and 15 BGN (app. 6 to 7,5 EUR). This step ahead is a golden opportunity for private entrepreneurs, since charging stations can be owned and operated by local partners associated with the operator in the country, which opens the doors for a wide range of business opportunities.
