Participation plan in the Barcelona area



Rururbal was launched in March 2009 in Barcelona with a public presentation to introduce the project’s objectives and activities as well as beginning to bring awareness to the various participants. To get both producers and the other members of the food industry involved, the plan was two pronged: individual meetings to present the opportunities involved in the project and the launch of an active participation programme to define objectives and activities.
Thanks to its targeted approach, developed through Rururbal methodology, we were able to identify innovative experiences and initiatives in the region as well as the main players whether they be producers or consumers.  Objectives were defined and necessary action identified during two workshops. A group of participants were thus able to work together to endorse new promotional initiatives for regional produce and to consolidate a local food system.
