A meeting between Herwig van Staa, President of the Congress of the Council of Europe, and Ramón Luis Valcárcel Siso, President of the Committee of the Regions of the European Union (CoR) took place on 30 May 2013 in Brussels (Belgium). Discussions focused on priority areas for co-operation, such as multi-level governance, fighting corruption and the impact of the economic and financial crisis on local democracy as well as on local and regional authorities’ possibilities for developing and implementing counteracting policies.
