Located in
the heart of Turin, traditionally the final destination and meeting point for
farmers coming to the city since 1700, Porta Palazzo is a square housing one of
Europe’s biggest food markets. From Monday to Saturday, about one hundred fruit
and vegetable producers come here from as far as 50 km from Turin, much to the
delight of thousands of Turin’s consumers.
Within the
framework of a European Rururbal project, the Province of Turin gives farmers
and consumers the opportunity to meet and promote the quality of their produce,
its freshness, its food miles, production area, seasonality and “good
practices” in terms of consumption and culture.
