The NWE Programme has opened its 8th Call for Proposals to projects under all 4 thematic priorities. Applications must reach the Secretariat by Friday 1st April 2011 before 12h00 (noon).
Today the Programme is half way through its implementation. After seven calls launched to date, the NWE Member States have approved 64 projects under the four Priorities:
Priority 1 – Capitalising on innovation (18 projects)
Priority 2 – Managing resources and risks (18 projects of which 2 clusters)
Priority 3 – Improving connectivity (13 projects approved of which 1 cluster)
Priority 4 – Strengthening communities (15 projects approved)
There is nearly EUR 114 million ERDF still available to finance new project proposals.
Achieving full thematic coverage
The Programme invites to the 8th Call new project proposals under all 4 Priorities but special interest will be given to applications addressing topics where there have not been so far any approved successful projects so that the Programme can ensure balanced coverage of all Programme priorities:
Priority Objectives where there haven’t been many successful projects yet are:
Priority 1
Objective 3: To use and improve territorial cooperation in order to strengthen the institutional and territorial framework for innovation and the transfer of knowledge within North-West Europe.
Priority 2
Objective 3: To promote a transnational and spatial approach to improving the quality of soil, water and air, to minimise greenhouse gas emissions and reduce noise pollution.
Priority 3
Objective 3: To develop innovative approaches to the use of ICT in order to improve connectivity, including approaches aimed at reducing the need to travel and replacing physical mobility through virtual activity for both passenger mobility and freight transport.
Priority 4
There are approved projects corresponding to each of the objectives, but there is still scope for projects under each of the headings.
Assistance from Contact Points and officers
The support to project promoters starts months before application, with a network of Contact Points (CPs) in each Member State helping the project development process, from the conception of a project idea to its implementation. Officers at the Programme Secretariat can be contacted at any time for queries related to project development, finance, management and the application procedure.
On 24 and 25 February, promoters of 19 project ideas met the Secretariat and the CPs for last minute questions before submitting their application.
