Within the framework of the Shift Project, in which the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Valencia is a partner, it has been organized a familiarization trip for the touristic operators specializing in wine tourism and gastronomic products, for the destinations of Requena-Utiel and Terres dels Alforins, and the Cultural Tourism Route Borgia.
During the days 17th and 18th of May 2011, 11 national and international operators specialized in wine tourism, gastronomy and short trips, may have known the ability of the province of Valencia and its companies to bring tourist demands relating to theses consumption arguments. The fam trip has sought to show the different realities of the wine tourism product, its singularities and its consumption opportunities.
In addition to the wineries visited, where the operators have tasted the wines of each touristic space, it has been discovered, through the restaurants’ offering, the magnificent gastronomy of the interior of the province of Valencia and the perfect pairing with the wines.
At the end of the trip, the 11 operators showed a high degree of satisfaction with the tourism situation, the professionalism of their companies and the potential for its customers that can make the wine tourism and gastronomy offer in the interior of the province of Valencia.
The wine tourism and gastronomy products are considered as interesting to facilitate consumer arguments between clients who stay in the coastal areas of the province of Valencia. Following earlier stages where options of consumption around wine have been analysed, conceptualized and structured, this stage allow to harmonize the proposals to operators which subsequently can market products where the argument of wine tourism will be the main motivation or a complementary value to others arguments such as “beach and sun”.
