On 25-26 May the conference "European Cooperation growing smart / Synergies and links between European Territorial Cooperation and other funding opportunities" was organised in Budapest, Hungary. The event was attended by people dealing with various cross-border and transnational programmes from all over the European Union, as well as third countries such as Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Turkey and Georgia.
The main focus of the conference were not only existing synergies between programmes, but also their ability to foster innovation and contribute to the smart growth of the region, within the existing priority axes and given funds. The participants not only listened to presentations showing examples from different regions of Europe (including a presentation on implementing a flagship project within the European Union Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region), but also worked in groups trying to propose solutions to re-engineer the European Territorial Cooperation programmes in order to increase their contribution to the smart growth.
The conference was organized by INTERACT (www.interact-eu.net), in cooperation with the National Development Agency of the Republic of Hungary, which manages or co-manages the cross-border programmes implemented on Hungarian territory.
