The Norman Connection project recruits a Tourism Project Officer

Fixed Term until 31st March 2013

To manage a four million Euro EU funded project called Norman Connections, funded under the France (Manche) England programme. The postholder will be coordinating the activities of nine project partners in the UK and France including marketing, administering financial claims, budget monitoring, developing a website and joint interpretation as well as maximising opportunities for cross border partnership and best practise. The project comprises of significant investment and improvements to key Norman sites in the UK and France – mainly castles as well as raising awareness of the Norman heritage of the Transmanche region.

You will be required to travel on a regular basis throughout UK and France representing the projects and council at events

Person Specification Must have / be: **

Qualifications

A European Project Management diploma or equivalent qualification (Desirable)

Previous experience of European partnership working or European project management 25%

Previous experience of managing and monitoring budgets 15%

Experience of chairing and organising meetings (Desirable)

Written and Spoken fluency in French and English 35%

Ability to compile financial and written reports 10%

Demonstrable experience of using Microsoft packages

Knowledge and interest in Norman history and heritage sites

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in an understandable way. 15%

Ability to manage time effectively, planning own workload and setting appropriate objectives and deadlines.

Demonstrable experience of thoroughly analyzing information, and considering alternative solutions, adapting to new ways of working where necessary.

Demonstrable experience of contributing to change and listening to new ideas.

Ability to demonstrate a wide understanding of customer needs and being able to manage their expectations.

Ability to demonstrate an understanding of how teams work with other services and takes a proactive approach towards helping others.

Demonstrable experience of coping well under pressure and difficult situations, able to identify and act on own development needs.
