CONFERENCE ON SERVICE DESIGN „SERVICES OF TOMORROW: WHAT’S NEXT?“

Global economy has shifted from the creation of objects to the creation of services. Services are seen as the primary source of new economic growth, development, and innovation. Even in Estonia services already constitute more than 60% of GDP. Accordingly — services matter! However, we often experience bad service and wonder why we are not asked which services we actually need, while we develop services hoping that our clients will like them.
The first Estonian conference on service design on September 23, 2011, which will take place at the Estonian State Puppet & Youth Theatre looks to the future of services by asking how to develop services in new ways. What could be done to make the customer feel happy instead of being taken advantage of. Both will win — the client as well as the service provider — a satisfied customer will return and recommend Your service to others.

The conference has been organised differently this time. Instead of attempting to guess which subjects would be of interest, we invited service providers of various spheres, from the public and private sectors, to a round table and developed the contents and format of the conference in common discussions. All specialists related to the development of services are invited: CEOs, marketing and communication  managers, product and service developers as well as designers. Best services can only be created in cooperation of different individuals.

Some highlights of what you will hear at the conference. Professor of psychology Göte Nyman from the University of Helsinki and service designer Reima Rönnholm (Palmu Inc.) will debate over the future of services. Sustainable design expert and educator Alastair Fuad-Luke from UK focuses on public services: how to co-design (co-future) in the public sector. Erik Sakkov, member of the management board of Tallinn Airport, and Sirle Arro, cruise and ferry manager of Port of Tallinn, will talk about co-creation in the service sector.
