A European Green Capital handover ceremony took place in Brussels on 29 November 2012. Vice president of EUROCITIES Patrick Rimbert, mayor of Nantes, formally accepted the European Green Capital 2013 title on behalf of his city at a handover ceremony in Brussels on 29 November 2012. The ceremony featured presentations by Javier Maroto Aranzabal, mayor of Vitoria-Gasteiz, the current title holder, as well as Patrick Rimbert and Fabrice Roussel, vice president of Nantes Metropole for dialogue with citizens.
