Riga City Council has announced the winners of the grants programme "Takeoff" ("Atspēriens"), which is supported by City municipality and Swedbank. "Takeoff" is one the best samples of support scheme for enterprises open to all SMEs. Riga City Council and Swedbank organise the grants programme "Takeoff" to promote activities in entrepreneurship and support the realisation of new business ideas. The winners of the competition can receive up to LVL 6000 to cover the initial business costs.
"New entrepreneurs must dream, research, dare and apply for the grants programme "Takeoff"! It is possible that in a few years this will be a conventional way to start a business. So far 47 entrepreneurs in Riga have used this chance. In the next year we call for applications from new entrepreneurs - the ones who have an idea and just need a little takeoff to help their business get off the ground," announced Ervins Labanovskis, the director of the Business Activity Coordination Centre.
The following ideas were supported in the 4th round of the grants programme "Takeoff":
• "Development of a high quality children food production plant" - grant for purchasing of equipment, registering of the trademark, certification of the product and development of a website;
• "Development of an individual design footwear production plant" - grant for purchasing of equipment;
• "Innovative network (IP) video surveillance" - grant for purchasing of software, development of a website and training of employees;
• "Rocking horse 'Rockingvespa'" - grant for purchasing of equipment, registration of the trademark, and accounting services;
• "Windshield washer fluid refill equipment" - grant for the development of the production plant;
• "OLIGO" - grant for the development of a new board game;
• "Establishment of a winter park in Mežaparks stage" - to enable sliding down the hill with snow tubes starting from this winter;
• "Healthy food cafe for children" - grant for purchasing of equipment and the development of a website;
• "Vadipats.lv" - grant for a project for entrepreneurs who use single entry bookkeeping.
