In the framework of the European Project DISTRICT+ (Interreg IVC Programme), the partners met in Florence, on the last 27th and 28th of April, to evaluate the proposals submitted in relation to the Call for sub-projects launched in late December 2010 and closed on the 31st March 2011.
The Call invited public bodies and research organisations (belonging to the six DISTRICT+ partner regions – Lead Partner Tuscany (IT), Vastra Gotalands (SE), Lower Silesia (PL), Brasov County (RO), Sachsen Anhalt (DE) and West Midlands (UK)] - to submit their projects with the aim of identifying, analysing and disseminating good practices related to innovation and technological transfer from research to enterprises and economic clusters.
According to the Call’s Terms of Reference the sub-projects will kick-off in May 2011 and end by May 2013 and will involve partners from at least three different regions among the six DISTRICT+ partner regions.
The six submitted proposals passed both the eligibility and the quality check, revealing a good to excellent quality level, and have been accordingly approved for funding by the DISTRICT+ Steering Committee on the 28th of April.
The six sub-projects involve 24 different local partners globally (3 from Tuscany, 4 from Vastra Gotalands, 6 from West Midlands, 4 from Brasov County, 3 from Lower Silesia and 4 from Saxony-Anhalt) - including public authorities, service and business centres, technology parks, universities, etc. - for a total budget of about € 2.400.000,00.
The six sub-projects focus on all the six policy priority areas established by the DISTRICT+ miniprogramme, - i.e., two on internationalisation strategies, one on clustering strategies, two on innovative business development and one on eco-innovation in high-tech firms.
